Drafted in the 2017 third-round out of Michigan, Hill struggled to get on the field. His tackling proved to be an issue in limited reps.However, last year his contact was corrected and the mirror ability he flashed in college started to shine when matching up against guys. The safety started two games after Bradley McDougald got hurt. He looked like he belonged. Then, just as things were coming together, Hill’s year was abruptly ended by a hip fracture.Now practically a veteran on a young secondary, Hill will hope to prove himself deserving of a second contract with the team but he currently looks like a replaceable depth piece and the competition will be tough given that Seattle drafted Marquise Blair and Ugo Amadi. It’s hard to forget Hill’s ability to match-up with guys and his skill in processing his box run fits. In a strong safety role that also plays some big nickel, Hill still hints at exciting opportunities. It’s often said that development and potential is largely realized after the third year of an NFL career. Lano may have changed his name, but the more important thing will be how much he’s changed his game.
